Task 2- c (not completed)

Using the Sustainable Design Principles as outlined below, provide a set of instructions that the resort mangers must adhere to in order to promote sustainable design. The instructions may be supported by explanations (length is open and depends on the depth of research you and your partner decide upon).

Instructions:

1.    There may only be 6 cars on the resort at any time. Guests are required to leave their car on the mainland side of the bridge so that a large car park will not be required. This will also reduce the amount of deadly toxins and gases polluting the air making the resort a much more eco-friendly place with fresh air.

2.    All paper used in management offices is required to be recycled at the local recycling plant. Paper is also a renewable material as can will be recycled and used over and over again.

3.     Resort managers are required to have recycling bins always accessible near any food or drink faculties on the campus of the resort. This will then ensure all bottles, wrappers and boxes are recycled so they then can obtain an ‘afterlife’. Also the only bottled drinks that will be sold at the resort is water, any other drink will be served in a glass so the glass can be reused.

4.    All machines purchased for resort e.g. Dishwashers, ovens, washing machines, dryers, computers, cars, phones, fans, air cons, tv etc. must be of top quality so they are longer-lasting. This then reduces the impact of producing replacements.

5.    Solar panels will be used at all times to produce electricity and is a clean, natural source that will not be using our fossil fuels.

6.    Electricity lines and all electricity devices must be checked after every guest departs the resort to make sure they are of the Work Place Health and Safety requirements.
