Introduction to ProDesktop

Today Mr Ward re-introduced us to ProDesktop. He started by referring back to what we did last year by making a bag tag and showed us the machine he used to print it out and then the final product which was the actual key tag printed out. This brought back some memories of pro-desktop and the lessons we did last year. He also refreshed us with the vase and showed us how to use it. He refreshed the terms CAD, computer assisted Design and CAM, computer assisted manufacturing. I also remembered the words extrude and revolve. Mr. Ward said we will be making a safety torch for women, but i'm not sure if he was being sarcastic or serious hah! He also said we will have a VERY short essay at the end of term which I hope is true!

Unique and Sustainable Design Orals

Today Silvana and I presented our oral on the sustainability and uniqueness of our resort to the class. I think our oral did go well and we clearly showed what was unique and sustainable about our resort. I think we maybe could have gone into more depth about the sustainability and talked less about the uniqueness as I noticed thats what many other groups did. The other groups had specific examples and diagrams of what would be sustainable in their resort on their power point which also made it very effective. I think they looked into these sustainable elements whilst I was on exchange so that is something I missed out on, but I have caught up on it now. Many of the other groups used wind turbines, solar panels and grey water systems in their resorts which I thought was a good idea and would be effective if someone ever were to design, make and run a resort. Today in class we got most of the orals done and only have one more to do tomorrow! We are moving onto pro desktop next which is exciting as it is something very different to what we have been doing, but we did have practise with this last year!

Reflection 23/04/13

This term in design and technology we are continuing our resort. We only had 2 weeks until our resort had to be complete which wasnt very ling but if we are up to date with our schedule, which we are we will have it done in plenty of time. Silvana and I have nearlly completed our resort and have just a few minor touched to make. We still have to glue the water fountain on and possibly make a dew more paths. We will continue to make minor touch ups on our resort whenever we think they are needed. Our resort is not exactly what we planned it to be but i think it has actually turned out being better. Silvana and I began our oral tonight and should have that as well as our resort complete by Friday. Silvana and I have decided to take an approach to our oral as if we are a newspaper or a company that is doing a report on the resort and is talking about it. We feel this is the easiest, but yet effective way.
